Tutor Biography:
Jill Dawson is the author of seven novels, including Fred & Edie, Wild Boy and Watch Me Disappear. Her novel The Great Lover, about the poet Rupert Brooke, published in 2009, was a best-seller and a Richard and Judy Summer Read. Her new novel Lucky Bunny, which tells the life of Queenie Dove, East End thief and good time girl, will be published by Sceptre in August 2011 and has been optioned by the BBC. Twice nominated for the Orange prize, she taught Creative Writing for four years at UEA. Her Creative Writing teaching spans twenty years and she is a popular tutor and writing mentor. She currently mentors writers under a scheme she founded: www.gold-dust.org.uk
Course Theme:
A highly structured course for new writers already working on a novel, or with one in mind. Group discussion, experimentation, playfulness, having fun and stretching yourself as a writer will characterise this course, led by novelist Jill Dawson. Workshop prompts and tools are designed to
kick-start your wriitng or add richness to your prose and characterisation. With afternoons free to write this short course will pep up any tired writers.
Conditions:
Places are limited to 15 per workshop.
Admission will be by selection based on submitted work.  Submissions are now being accepted.
You should submit a piece – a short story or a chapter of a novel -- of not less than 1000 words by July 15th.  Complete the downloadable pdf Application Form, attach it to your sample and send it to:

Paul Perry announced as new Curator of Poetry Now

Poetry Now at Mountains to Sea, dlr Book Festival


Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Arts Office are delighted to announce that poet Paul Perry has been appointed as the curator of Poetry Now at Mountains to Sea, dlr Book Festival.

The dlr Poetry Now International Poetry Festival has been a core strand of the Dún-Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Arts Office programme for the last sixteen years. It is highly regarded for its artistic excellence and has become the most anticipated event on the annual poetry calendar in Ireland. Previous curators have included Patrick Galvin, Conor O’Callaghan and John McAuliffe. The outgoing curator is Belinda McKeon, who curated the festival from 2008 to 2011.
