In this its inaugural year Mountains to Sea is proud to present an events programme which will, at various times, scale the heights, perhaps skirt the rocks of controversy and certainly cast you adrift with some of your favourite authors. There is, we hope, something for everyone.
To celebrate DLR’s fine literary heritage we will be presenting stage productions honouring Samuel Beckett, Flann O’Brien and James Joyce on successive nights in the Pavilion Theatre. And while the focus of our author events will be firmly on fiction, we will also feature debates and discussion panels on subjects of urgent contemporary relevance. The DLR Literary Tour offers a moveable feast and a great opportunity to visit some of the key sites of literary interest in the region in the company of some very special guides! Finally, to emphasise the family-friendly dimension of the festival, DLR Libraries will present their popular Books in the Park event in the People’s Park on both days of the weekend. So while your kids get the opportunity to catch some of their favourite authors with music, entertainment and all sorts of fun activities on the side, Mum and Dad can take turns to attend their events just five minutes down the road.
Tickets for all events will be sold via the Pavilion Theatre Box Office and many events will sell out very quickly so if you want to be sure of a seat, book early to avoid disappointment! Given the times we are living in DLR County Council has tried to keep ticket prices at a reasonable level and for those who plan to attend more than one event we are also offering a 3 for 2 offer whereby if you want to book for three events, the cheapest of the three will be free. For complete schedule of events click on Schedule in the left hand sidebar.
(3 for 2 offer available through telephone booking only - contact the booking office on 01-2312929)
Please note that in order to keep the Pavilion Theatre foyer free and clear for incoming and outgoing crowds, all book-signings will take place immediately after the events in the County Hall directly across Marine Road.
