Leading UK authors to visit DLR Festival

Mountains to Sea welcomes top UK writers to Dun Laoghaire

While the festival is proud to present some of the finest Irish writers from September 7th-12th including John Banville, Roddy Doyle, Pat McCabe, Joseph O’Connor and Anne Enright, we’re also delighted to offer festival-goers the chance to hear some top-class British writers, some of whom have rarely visited ireland in the past.  Ross Raisin, whose acclaimed debut novel God’s Own Country was shortlisted for the IMPAC will read with fellow Penguin novelist, Jonathan Coe, a consistently brilliant comic novelist who enjoys cult status among his many loyal fans.  Helen Simpson and Janice Galloway, two of the finest short story-writers in the business read together on Thursday 9th September and since neither are frequent visitors to these shores, their event is not be missed.  Scotland’s Jackie Kay is a poet, playwright, novelist and short-story writer and she will be discussing her new memoir Red Dust Road with old friend Anne Enright in what promises to be a fascinating conversation.  Andrew O’Hagan is a more regular visitor and reads with DBC Pierre on a terrific Saturday double-bill.  Whitbread winner, Matthew Kneale is taking part in two events and will journey from Rome to grace the festival.  Finally, two household names, Kate Atkinson and Tim Waterstone, complete a stunning list of UK writing talent.  Let’s be sure to give them a warm welcome and full houses at their respective events
