Patrick Gale was born on the Isle of Wight in 1962. He spent his early years at Wandsworth Prison where his father was governor and later grew up in Winchester.
He was working as a singing waiter in an all-night restaurant when he completed his first novel, The Aerodynamics of Pork, on the back of his order pad. His most recent novels are Friendly Fire, the Richard & Judy bestseller, Notes from an Exhibition and The Whole day Through.
A new collection of short stories, Gentleman’s Relish, is published in October. He now lives on a farm near Land’s End.
