Sarah Webb and Tom Donegan announced as Curator/Programmer of School and Family Events at Mountains to Sea dlr Book Festival 2012
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to announce that Sarah Webb and Tom Donegan have been appointed as Curator/Programmer of the Mountains to Sea dlr Book Festival 2012 which will take place from 4th-9th September 2012. This will be the 4th year of this festival which honours the unique literary landscape of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and features the very best of Irish and international writers.
Sarah Webb, the Curator of the School and Family Events for this year’s festival has been working in children's books for over twenty years, as a children's bookseller, book buyer, marketing manager, events programmer, writer and reviewer. She curated the highly successful children's and family events at the 2011 Mountains to Sea Festival, bringing a range of award winning Irish and international authors to Dún Laoghaire including Patrick Ness, Meg Rosoff, Eoin Colfer and Darren Shan. With 2,560 young readers attending 40 children’s author events in 2011, Sarah promises that this year will be equally exciting, diverse and enjoyable. Sarah is also on the Board of Children's Books Ireland and co-edits the yearly BookFest guide to children's books.
Sarah will be joined by a highly experienced project manager, Tom Donegan. Tom, the Event Programmer of the School and Family Events for the festival
is a Dublin-based writer, children’s arts curator and creative project manager who has worked across a wide variety of media and cultural organisations. As Programme Officer with Children’s Books Ireland between 2007-11, Tom successfully delivered projects in partnership with libraries, arts centres and national cultural institutions. These have ranged from the national Children’s Book Festival, to international author tours, conferences, workshops and exhibitions. He is currently collaborating with the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, on their forthcoming children’s arts and literature programme, as well as curating YOU CREATE, a series of creative workshops for young people aged 5-14 years taking place at the Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire between February and April 2012.
