Flann O’Brien aka Brian O’Nolan aka Myles na cGopaleen remains one of the most enigmatic writers in the Irish literary canon.  Despite a modest body of published work, posterity has anointed him a postmodern writer of incomparable genius.  And yet he affected scorn for literary pretensions throughout his brief life.  So wherein resides his genius? In this, the centenary of his birth a lively panel of experts examines the legend of Flann O’Brien.
Moderator, Frank McNally, writes An Irishman’s Diary in The Irish Times, the alma mater of Myles himself.  Frank is a seasoned observer of all things Mylesean.
Carol Taffe teaches English at Trinity College and is the author of 'Ireland Through the Looking-Glass: Flann O'Brien, Myles na gCopaleen and Irish Cultural Debate'.
John O’Brien is the founder and director of The Dalkey Archive Press who published the works of Flann O’Brien in the US.  Dalkey Archive recently established an office in Dublin.
Justin Cartwright is an award-winning South African novelist and a lifelong admirer of Flann O’Brien.  His latest novel, Other People’s Money, features a humorous Flann O’Brien sub-plot.
Ed O’Loughlin has written that At Swim Two Birds was a book that changed his life.  Ed will be reading from his second novel, Toploader, on Wednesday 8th September.
With readings by Eamonn Morrissey and Kevin Barry.
