The Great Big Mountains to Sea Book Swap
THE GREAT BIG MOUNTAINS TO SEA BOOK SWAP
The Big Book Swap is a fundraising initiative dedicated to inspiring readers, helping people to share their literary passions whilst raising funds for charity. It has two components: a public event where readers will meet and swap books with other readers and an open competition for the best written recommendation.
“The instruction we find in books is like fire. We fetch it from our neighbours, kindle it at home, communicate it to others, and it becomes the property of all.” Voltaire
Here’s how it works:
• Meet us on the Pavilion Concourse. Bring with you a copy of your favourite book with a note attached recommending it to another reader, explaining why they absolutely have to read it.
• Admission is free but you are invited to make a cash donation to an Irish literacy charity tba
• The winner of The Great Book Swap Best Recommendation Competition will receive a prize of €250 worth of National Book Tokens. Entry forms are available at www.mountainstosea.ie
• We will be inviting famous authors to write their own recommendations for a favourite book and these will later be auctioned for charity TBC.
• Check out the entries at the festival website. That way you can arrange your swap beforehand if both parties are agreeable.
