Dispatches: John Boyne & Ed O'Loughlin

DISPATCHES
with John Boyne and Ed O’Loughlin
With The Boy InThe Striped Pyjamas, John Boyne was acclaimed as a brilliant story teller for children but the adult novels had been charming loyal readers long before.  The Absolutist, his sixth novel for adults, examines the events of the Great War from the perspective of two young soldiers, both struggling with the complexity of their emotions and the confusion of their friendship.
Ed O'Loughlin’s first novel, Not Untrue & Not Unkind was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2009 and the eagerly-anticipated follow-up, Toploader, has been acclaimed by one reviewer as ‘A biting military satire set in a near-future world in the vein of Catch 22.  O’Loughlin’s storytelling and sense of the ridiculous are acute, examining modern terrorism and conflict with an unflinching eye.
